Acceptable Use Policy

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") outlines what you can and cannot do when using FairKitty. By using the Service, you agree to comply with this policy.

1. Permitted Use

FairKitty is designed for personal and group expense tracking and splitting. You may use it to:

  • Track shared expenses within groups of friends, family, housemates, or colleagues
  • Split bills and calculate who owes whom
  • Record settlements and payments
  • Manage checklists for group events
  • Use group templates and money pools

2. Prohibited Activities

You must not use FairKitty to:

  • Engage in fraud or illegal activity — including money laundering, tax evasion, or creating fictitious expenses to manipulate balances.
  • Harass or abuse others — including using offensive group names, expense descriptions, or messages to harass, threaten, or intimidate other users.
  • Circumvent plan limits — including creating multiple accounts to bypass free tier limits, or using automated tools to exploit the Service.
  • Reverse engineer or scrape — including decompiling, disassembling, or attempting to extract the source code of the Service, or scraping data from the platform.
  • Upload malicious content — including viruses, malware, or any code designed to disrupt or damage the Service.
  • Impersonate others — including creating accounts or group entries pretending to be another person.
  • Spam or abuse communications — including using the Service to send unsolicited messages or invitations.
  • Attempt unauthorised access — including accessing groups, accounts, or system components you are not authorised to access.

3. Enforcement

If we determine that you have violated this AUP, we may take one or more of the following actions:

  • Issue a warning
  • Temporarily suspend your account
  • Permanently terminate your account
  • Report the activity to relevant authorities

The severity of the response depends on the nature and frequency of the violation. For serious violations (fraud, illegal activity), we may suspend your account immediately without prior warning.

4. Reporting Violations

If you become aware of any activity that violates this AUP, please report it to us at support@fairkitty.app. We will investigate all reports promptly.

5. Appeals

If your account has been suspended or terminated and you believe this was done in error, you may contact us at support@fairkitty.app to appeal the decision. We will review all appeals fairly and respond within 14 business days.

6. Changes to This Policy

We may update this AUP from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email or in-app notification with at least 30 days notice.
